The Sizzler in Greenburgh never had a drive-thru but you wouldn't have known that on the afternoon of Oct. 1, 1997.
That's when an elderly Bronx man hit the accelerator of his Buick Delta instead of the brake and plowed 20 feet into the restaurant in the Crossroads Shopping Center on Tarrytown Road.
The man was uninjured and faced no charges. One customer was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.
The accident occurred at about 3:45 p.m. and customers told The Journal News that it was fortunate it didn't happen two hours earlier or later when the section as where the car entered would have been filled with lunch or dinner patrons.
