A week after suffering a humbling loss, James Fitzgerald calmly delivered a fourth-down touchdown pass to Sam Mehler in the closing minutes Friday, giving Mamaroneck
a 21-14 win over forever rival Scarsdale.
The growth of this junior-heavy lineup is measurable now.
A suddenly inspired Tigers defense responded in the moment, too, stopping a last-gasp drive just outside the red zone.
"We had a good week of practice," Fitzgerald said of the response following the loss to Arlington. "Obviously, this is a big game for us. We were back on our turf, ready to go. We wanted this win. We needed this win."
