New Rochelle is back in the lohud Section 1 Rankings for the first time in a long time.
The Huguenots executed a last-minute drive to perfection and Lev Goldsmith made good on a 34-yard field goal as time expired, giving New Ro a 23-21 win over Kellenberg and triggering a wild celebration. The Firebirds opened the season a week earlier by upending Chaminade.
There weren't a lot of surprises last week, but there are two games upcoming that could things up. Rye is heading to Clarkstown South for a showdown of Class A contenders and Mamaroneck is visiting John Jay-East Fishkill in a rematch of last year's Class AA final.

1. Somers (1-0)
There are playmakers on the defensive side of the ball, too, and they locked down a gritty
win over Mamaroneck in the season-opener. Previously: 1
2. Rye (1-0)
Charlie Brady looks plenty comfortable at quarterback and has the Garnets off and running. Previously: 2
3. Clarkstown South (1-0)
We're going to know if this team is ready to content in Class A before the end of the week. Previously: 3
4. North Rockland (1-0)
With this schedule, If the Red Raiders fail to start the season 3-0, something bad happened. Previously: 5
5. Mamaroneck (0-1)
A replay of last year's Class AA championship game against John Jay-East Fishkill on Thursday will be telling for both sides. Previously: 4
6. Westlake (1-0)
The Wildcats ran for nearly 200 yards in a season-opening win over Lakeland. Previously: 7
7. Scarsdale (0-0)
Don't be surprised if the season-opener against Yonkers is a little bit stressful. Previously: 8
8. Bronxville (0-1)
Regardless of the outcome, playing up in Week 0 against Section 2 finalist Averill Park was a good way to get this group dialed in. Previously: 6
9. New Rochelle (1-0)
There is real optimism here and taking down Kellenberg last week is exactly what this program needed. Previously: NR
10. John Jay-East Fishkill (1-0)
Points are not likely to be plentiful again this week when the Patriots square off against reigning Section 1 champion Mamaroneck. Previously: 10
On the bubble: Hackley (1-0); Harrison (1-0); Yonkers 1-0; Pearl River (1-0).
CHSFL POWER 5

1. Iona Prep (1-0)
The Gaels delivered a memorable win over CBA-Syracuse on an otherwise humbling weeked for the CHSFL. Previously: 1
2. Monsignor Farrell (2-0)
The next three weeks against DePaul Catholic (N.J.), Chaminade and Iona Prep are going to be a step up from the first two week. Previously: 3
3. St. Anthony’s (0-1)
Giving up 62 points was not in the game plan against Red Bank Catholic. Previously: 2
4. Cardinal Hayes (0-1)
The Cardinals have a week off to work on keeping the defense out of the backfield. Previously: NR
5. Stepinac (1-1)
A humbling loss to CBA-Albany delivered a lot of lessons, starting with coming into big games with the proper intensity. Previously: 5
