Police warn about electric dirt bikes
Carmel police said high-powered electric two-wheelers sold as e-bikes can be classified as motorcycles or off-road vehicles. Some have no pedals and can reach speeds of more than 50 mph, according to police.
Police also said those vehicles cannot be registered for street use in New York and are prohibited from being operated on public roads. Operation of vehicles that require registration and insurance also requires the appropriate license, according to police.
