Dollar Tree has made changes to its longstanding business model, with some popular items now selling for more than $1. Are Westchester County stores seeing the same changes?
Here's what we found during recent visits to Dollar Tree stores in Westchester County.
Dollar Tree emphasizes affordability and value
Dollar Tree has been moving away from its traditional $1 price point, while price-checking machines have been spotted at some stores, according to news reports. Customers on Facebook and Reddit have had mixed reactions to the higher prices and the introduction of scanners, with some criticizing the changes, others accepting them and some saying the scanners are useful.
During Dollar Tree's May 2026 earnings call, the company's CEO said about 85% of the company's sales mix remains at $2 or
less, which he said reflects the company's "commitment to affordability and everyday value."
As Dollar Tree celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2026, the CEO also said customers will continue to see the $1 price point in stores as the company honors the brand's history.
Price scanners recently were spotted by The Journal News/lohud at Dollar Tree stores in Pelham Manor and New Rochelle.
Despite the changes, many products remain available at relatively low prices. Here's a look at more than 30 items spotted during recent visits to a couple of Dollar Tree stores in Westchester County.
