New York City ranks among the world's happiest vacation destinations, according to a new ranking based on more than 1 million reviews from travelers around the world.
The list, compiled by Ireland-based travel insurance company JustCover, analyzed reviews of tourist venues in 155 destinations worldwide. The reviews included attractions, restaurants, resorts and hotels, with the company using the data to identify destinations where visitors reported feeling happiest.
Tulum, Mexico, ranked No. 1 overall, while Las Vegas was the highest-ranked U.S. destination in 2026.
New York City ranked No. 6 overall and No. 2 among U.S. destinations, behind Las Vegas.

Why New York City ranked so high
JustCover's ranking points to New York City's wide range of entertainment, including Broadway
shows, as well as its high-energy atmosphere and iconic landmarks.
Other destinations on the list were recognized for different experiences. Soufrière, Maui and Bora Bora offer beaches, sunshine and warm climates, while Oaxaca, Cappadocia and Positano are known for their history, hospitality and food.
Las Vegas tops U.S. destinations
Las Vegas ranked No. 4 overall and was the highest-ranked destination in the United States.
JustCover highlighted the city's association with major celebrations and milestones, including birthdays and weddings, along with its entertainment and attractions.
