A New York ZIP code is among the hottest housing markets in the country, with homes attracting intense buyer interest and selling quickly, according to a new Realtor.com ranking.
Fairport's 14450 ZIP code
ranked No. 4 on Realtor.com's list of the 50 hottest ZIP codes in the U.S. for 2026.
Fairport is a village in Monroe County, about 10 miles southeast of downtown Rochester along the historic Erie Canal in western New York, and is known for its picturesque canalfront, vibrant downtown, annual Canal Days festival and strong reputation as one of the Rochester area's most desirable communities.
The ranking puts the community ahead of ZIP codes in some of the country's largest and most competitive housing markets.
Fairport, New York, ZIP code ranks No. 4 nationally
Homes listed in the 14450 ZIP code received 5.3 times as many views per property on Realtor.com as the typical U.S. listing, according to the report.
Homes also spent a median of 23 days on the market.
The median listing price in the ZIP code was about $429,000 during the first half of 2026.
The strong demand also translated into higher sale prices. Homes in the ZIP code sold for an average of 14.4% above their asking prices, according to Realtor.com.
Only New York ZIP code to make top 10
Fairport was the only New York ZIP code to rank among Realtor.com's 10 hottest housing markets.
The top 10 were:
- Peabody, Massachusetts
- Montclair, New Jersey
- Sewell, New Jersey
- Fairport, New York
- Westfield, Massachusetts
- Livonia, Michigan
- Lititz, Pennsylvania
- North Haven, Connecticut
- New Berlin, Wisconsin
- Wheaton, Illinois
The ranking was based on buyer demand and how quickly homes sold, according to Realtor.com.
Why Fairport is attracting buyers
Fairport's housing market is drawing interest from both local and out-of-area buyers.
Nearly half of Realtor.com views for listings in the 14450 ZIP code came from the Rochester metropolitan area. New York City's metropolitan area accounted for another 14.6% of views.
The competition comes as inventory remains limited in the country's hottest ZIP codes.
Realtor.com found that inventory in the 10 hottest ZIP codes was about 60.5% below pre-pandemic levels, compared with an 11.3% national shortfall.
What the ranking means for New York homebuyers
The Fairport ranking highlights the continued strength of at least one New York housing market even as buyers across the state contend with affordability concerns and limited inventory.
For sellers, the numbers show the potential advantage of listing in a market where buyers are competing for a relatively limited number of homes.
For buyers, the ranking offers another indication that competition can remain intense in desirable New York communities, even outside the state's largest metropolitan areas.
