An action-packed week was highlighted by rivalry matchups, some upset victories and several standout performances, including an impressive milestone eclipsed. Altogether, it produced for us 10 candidates for Girls Soccer Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital.
The previous poll winners this season were Camryn Cassese (Eastchester) and Olivia Mark (Walter Panas).
Read below about what the nominees accomplished last week, then cast your votes. The poll will be open until 3 p.m. Wednesday, and the winner will be featured on the lohud sports social media accounts.
Amelia Amenedo, Byram Hills
The sophomore scored at least once in each of the Bobcats' three wins last week, including two goals in their 2-0 win over Dobbs Ferry, and she had a goal and an assist in an impressive
3-0 victory over Eastchester.
Faith Brown, Pleasantville
The senior scored three goals in the first half, including the 100th of her career, in the Panthers' 6-1 win over Briarcliff on Saturday. Brown became the first Pleasantville soccer player to reach the milestone. She also had a goal and two assists in a victory over Irvington earlier in the week, and two assists in their 2-1 upset of Albertus Magnus.
Kayleigh Dolan, Mahopac
The senior scored a career-high four goals, all in the second half, leading the Wolf Pac to a 5-0 win over Carmel last Tuesday.
Violeta Figueroa Montoya, White Plains
She scored twice in the Tigers' 4-1 win over Ossining and had both their goals in a 2-2 draw with Pearl River.
Charlotte Keenan, Rye
She scored twice to lead the Garnets in a 3-0 win over Harrison and had a goal and an assist in their 3-1 win over Arlington.
Lyla Kelly, Clarkstown South
She had four goals and an assist last week, helping lead the Vikings to three wins. Kelly scored the winner against Horace Greeley and had a goal and an assist in their 3-1 upset of North Rockland.
Brooke Matarazzo, Tuckahoe
The senior had five goals and two assists in the Tigers' two wins last week. She did all the scoring in their 3-0 win over North Salem in what was a rematch of last year's Section 1 Class C final.
Julie Mothner, Pelham
She had four goals and an assist in three games last week, including a goal in the Pelicans' 2-1 upset of John Jay-East Fishkill.
Paige Neustadt, Scarsdale
The junior had three goals in the Raiders' 4-3 upset of John Jay-East Fishkill. Neustadt scored the go-ahead goal, giving Scarsdale a 3-2 lead in the 35th minute.
Sienna Paldin, North Salem
With the Tigers in a two-goal deficit, the forward scored twice in the second half, including a dramatic tying goal with 42 seconds left as North Salem forced a 2-2 tie with rival Croton-Harmon last Thursday.
