How much longer will Westchester County-operated public beaches and pools be open, as well as town-operated ones?
County-operated Croton Point Beach, in northern Westchester's Croton-on-Hudson, has closed for the season, according to the county's website.
All county beaches and pools are closed on Sept. 1 due to weather.
Potential rain is in the National Weather Service forecast through Thursday night, Sept. 3.But when they reopen, the following county-run beaches are scheduled to be open through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7:
∎ Glen Island Park, Weyman Avenue, New Rochelle
∎ Playland Beach, at Rye Playland
Hours at those beaches are 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with no admittance after 6 p.m.
When they reopen, the county-operated pools scheduled to be open through
Labor Day, Sept. 7, are:
∎ Playland Pool, Rye
∎ Sprain Ridge Pool, Yonkers
∎ The Brook at Tibbets, Yonkers
The county-operated Saxon Woods Pool, in White Plains, and Wilson's Waves Pool, in Mount Vernon, were listed on the county website as closed through Friday, Sept. 4.
Admission fees apply at all county pools and beaches. Westchester County residency is required at all locations except for Playland Beach and Playland Pool.
Keep in mind that sometimes, beaches are closed after rainfall that sends contaminants in runoff into the water. Check the county website for the latest on weather-affected beaches: parks.westchestergov.com/activities/swimming.

Here are town and city-operated beaches' scheduled days and hours, but check to be sure on a given day to weather conditions:
∎ Harbor Island Park, village of Mamaroneck:Stephen E. Johnston Beach at Harbor Island Park is open through Labor Day. It is staffed daily, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. When not staffed, the beach gate will be closed by 6 p.m., according to the village website.
∎ Hudson Park East and West, Hudson Park Road, New Rochelle: Open on weekends only through Labor Day, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the city website said.
∎ Rye Town Park beach, Dearborn Avenue, town of Rye: Swimming hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., only when a lifeguard is on duty.; the beach itself is open 9 a.m. To 9 p.m., the town websitesaid.
Be sure to check village, town and city websites about whether or not there are beach and/or parking feess, which can differ based on resident vs. non-resident : Rye, Mamaroneck village, New Rochelle.
