A 47-year-old Highland man died Monday after a possible drowning in a creek in Ulster County, according to New York State Police.
Possible drowning reported in Wawarsing
State Police assigned to the Ellenville barracks responded around 6:37 p.m. Sept. 14 to a report of a possible drowning in Vernooy Kill Creek, off Lundy Road in the town of Wawarsing.
Troopers identified the man as Owen Garrison, 47, of Highland.
Garrison was located in the creek and extricated by members of the Napanoch Fire Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation continues
The Napanoch Fire Department, Ellenville Emergency Medical Services and the Ulster County Sheriff's Office assisted State Police at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
