An exciting week was capped by one of the most anticipated games of the season: Rye topped Pleasantville in a spirited matchup of unbeaten teams. But there were several other intriguing matchups and continuing trends, which spurred some movement in the rankings.
Eastchester and Mahopac earned their debut, while Tuckahoe made its way back into the top 10.
Records are as of the morning of Oct. 13.
Girls soccer power rankings
1. Rye (11-0-2)
The Garnets again defended their position against a worthy challenger, extending a figurative stiff arm to Pleasantville in a 2-0 victory in what was a meeting of undefeated elites last Saturday. Rye faces a better-than-its-record Ursuline squad and a talented Eastchester this week. Last week: 1
2. Pleasantville (11-1)
There's no shame in losing a competitive match to a powerhouse
that hasn't lost at all since 2024. The Panthers still have a plus-58 goal differential and they're better for having challenged themselves against Albertus Magnus and Rye. Last week: 2
3. Albertus Magnus (8-3-2)
The Falcons took a 1-0 loss to New Jersey's Rutgers Prep, but it's an encouraging sign they were as competitive with a nationally-ranked opponent. They followed that with dominant wins over Arlington B and Ossining in which Katie Murphy rang up nine goals. Last week: 3
4. Arlington (8-1-4)
The Admirals had consecutive ties with North Rockland and John Jay-Cross River before a 2-0 win over Ketcham. They've got another busy week ahead with tough matchups against Scarsdale, rival John Jay-East Fishkill and North Rockland. Last week: 4
5. Mamaroneck (10-1-2)
They've faltered only once, losing a one-goal game to rival White Plains, and have since won five straight. Mamaroneck is holding opponents to 0.61 goals per game and they've got a balanced offense with several capable scorers. Looming for the Tigers is a meeting with Albertus Magnus, but this team does have a chance to secure a top seed entering the Class AAA playoffs. Last week: 5
6. Clarkstown South (11-1)
The Vikings added three wins last week, including a shutout of North and a 3-1 victory over White Plains, one of the better Class AAA teams in the area. They've got a rematch on Thursday with Nyack, the team that blemished their record two weeks ago. Last week: 7
7. Harrison (7-5-1)
The Huskies have dropped a couple spots in the ranking in recent weeks, battling injuries and some tough opponents, including Rye and Eastchester. But this group, when healthy and whole, still is a title favorite in Class AA. Last week: 6
8. Eastchester (7-4-2)
The Eagles rebounded from a loss to Westlake with impressive wins over Byram Hills and Harrison, avenging losses earlier this season. Eastchester followed that with a tie against Yorktown, though, so they're still seeking consistency. But they certainly are dangerous. Last week: N/R
9. Mahopac (8-2-2)
The Wolf Pac makes its debut in the ranking this week while riding a four-game win streak that includes a 3-1 victory over surging John Jay-Cross River, giving that team on Monday its first loss since Sept. 8. With a stout defense, Mahopac is allowing just 0.7 goals per game and Kayleigh Dolan is on an offensive tear. Last week: N/R
10. Tuckahoe (11-1-1)
Right on time, the defending Class C state runner-up is hitting its playoff stride. Tuckahoe has won nine straight, most of them decisively, and made its way back into the top 10 on the strength of dominant wins over Briarcliff and North Salem. Last week: N/R
On the bubble: Byram Hills (9-4), Nyack (10-2), White Plains (8-3-2), John Jay-Cross River (8-2-2), Kennedy Catholic (11-1-1), Scarsdale (7-4-1)
