It's time to determine which varsity sports team in the Lower Hudson Valley is Top Team of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital. for the period from September 7 to Sept. 13.
Each week, we will accept nominations from athletic departments and team coaches. Then you vote on which team should be Team of the Week.
We encourage departments and coaches to participate. This weekly poll is open to varsity teams (not football) from Westchester, Rockland and Putnam only. Football teams will be included in our Football Team of the Week poll on Mondays. Email Phil Strum at pstrum@lohud.com with any other questions.
The poll, which will run Sunday-Tuesday throughout the school year, closes at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Clarkstown South girls soccer
The Vikings
went 2-0 over the last week with a 3-0 win over Ardsley and an 8-0 win over Scarsdale B. Renata Fernandez had hat tricks in both games for Clarkstown South, which is coached by Nick Jung.
Horace Greeley boys cross country
The Quakers, coached by James Howard and Regina McKie, won the league crossover meet on Sept. 10 at Croton Point Park. The varsity boys race was won by sophomore Sean Sykes, who won the 5K in 17:03.97, 18.5 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Senior Sebastian Mendez was third, senior Gavin McKie eighth and junior Hunter Mendez ninth.
Rye boys soccer
The Garnets, coached by Jared Small, beat Harrison and Arlington this past week, both by 5-0 scores with Felix Wismer and James Hayashi with three goals apiece over the two game stretch. Rye enters this week with a 3-0 record.
