Despite the schedule being shortened somewhat by the weekend nor'easter, there still were a bevy of important games and impressive performances that resulted in us having eight candidates for Boys Soccer Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital.
The previous poll winners this season were Sebastian Chacon (Ardsley), Felix Wismer (Rye) and Nick Tassier (Pleasantville).
Read below about what the nominees accomplished last week, then cast your votes. The poll will be open until 3 p.m. Wednesday, and the winner will be featured on the lohud sports social media accounts.
Ulises Cortez, Gorton
He had three goals and two assists for the Wolves in a 6-3 win over Riverside/Obama.
Eoghan Fitzgerald, Pearl River
He had two goals and two assists to lead the Pirates in a 4-3 win over Suffern. He also
had a goal and an assist in their 2-1 win over Nanuet.
Chris Flanagan, Mahopac
The senior scored three goals for the Wolf Pac in a 4-0 win over Peekskill and had an assist in their 3-0 victory over previously undefeated Lakeland.
George Haines, Mamaroneck
The junior had a goal in the Tigers' 2-0 win over Scarsdale, and he scored twice in their victory over Ossining.
Max Moore, Leffell
He scored four goals in the Lions' 5-0 win over Woodlands.
Kasen Scarperi, Rye
The senior scored in the 47th minute, lifting the Garnets to a 1-0 win over rival Byram Hills, and he scored a career-high four goals, including the deciding tally, in their 6-4 win over Walter Panas.
Walvin Vargas, Spring Valley
The junior scored three goals to lead the Tigers in a 4-1 win over Nyack last Friday.
Nico Waldhauser, Tappan Zee
The goalkeeper recorded shutouts in both of the Dutchmen's games last week, including making six saves in a 2-0 win over Clarkstown North.
