With the regular season in the books, we've got a pre-postseason ranking that does feature some team movement.
Scarsdale climbed a spot with its solid finish in the the last week, as did Walter Panas and Fox Lane. It'll be fun to follow Class AAA's big three in the playoffs, considering how Mamaroneck, Scarsdale and New Rochelle have fared against each other thus far.
Records are as of the morning of Oct. 20.
Boys soccer power rankings
1. Rye (15-0-1)
The Garnets half-faltered for the first time this fall, playing to a draw with Mahopac. But they followed that with a decisive win over Edgemont on Monday to finish the regular season undefeated. Last week: 1
2. Mamaroneck (13-1-2)
Their first loss came in the second to last game, getting stunned by a better-than-its-record Port Chester. That game was sandwiched
between another tie with New Rochelle and a 2-0 win over Fox Lane to close the regular season. Last week: 2
3. Scarsdale (12-2-1)
The Raiders won four straight to close, including victories over New Rochelle and White Plains that earned them a league title. More importantly for them, Ethan Grossberg and Roan Forray returned after lengthy injuries, just in time for the playoffs. Last week: 4
4. New Rochelle (10-3-2)
A second loss to Scarsdale sets them back, but the Huguenots also have tied Mamaroneck twice. Styles make fights and, in this case, maybe matchups make matches. So New Rochelle can't be overlooked at all. Last week: 3
5. Mahopac (12-1-2)
Yes, if they'd managed to beat Rye, there would've been a major shakeup. The Wolf Pac came awfully close to jumping some of the 'AAA' teams in this ranking, too. But they'll hold this spot for now and enter the playoffs a heavy favorite in Class AA. Last week: 5
6. Walter Panas (12-2-2)
The Panthers' tie with Somers on Monday broke a string of six straight games won decisively. Still, their only losses came in September to Rye and Mahopac in competitive games. Panas will be taken very seriously in the Class A playoffs. Last week: 7
7. Fox Lane (9-3-4)
Recent wins over Eastchester, Greeley and Harrison earned them a bump in the rankings, and Monday's loss to Mamaroneck won't be held against them here. The Foxes, fresh off their first league title since 1977, are clicking at the right time and won't be an easy out in the playoffs. Last week: 9
8. Harrison (10-3-3)
The Huskies pulled out a one-goal victory over Eastchester but dropped their finale to fast-charging Fox Lane. The defending Class AA section and regional champs have had an excellent season, but they're still struggling to find more consistent production on offense. Last week: 6
9. Lakeland (11-4-1)
They had a rough couple weeks down the stretch, including a loss to Peekskill, before closing with a 3-0 win over Brewster. The Hornets still are a dangerous team with legitimate offensive threats and an experienced coach. Last week: 8
10. Eastchester (9-4-3)
The loss to Irvington almost cost them this spot, but the Eagles rebounded with a victory over Yorktown. Their record isn't sparkling, thanks in large part to a difficult league schedule, but they've got better than a 2:1 ratio in goal differential. Last week: 10
On the bubble: Albertus Magnus (13-3), Pleasantville (11-2-1), Briarcliff (13-1-2), Hastings (12-2-2), Irvington (13-2-1)
