TV's favorite judge is preparing to leave the bench after three decades on television. New York native Judge Judy Sheindlin will air the final episode of "Judy Justice" on Prime Video on Friday, Oct. 23, marking the end of her run as the star of a courtroom television series.
Sheindlin isn't stepping away from television entirely. She will continue working behind the scenes as a producer, including on her son Adam Levy's new courtroom show, "Adam's Law."
Here's what to know about Sheindlin's television career, her final episode and what's next.
When is Judge Judy's last episode?
The final episode of "Judy Justice," the streaming successor to her long-running syndicated hit "Judge Judy," premieres Friday, Oct. 23.
Earlier reports indicated the episode would be released Oct. 22, but
Prime Video later updated the release date to Friday at 3 a.m. ET, according to the USA TODAY Network.
The episode closes out Sheindlin's 30-year television career presiding over courtroom cases. Her original series, "Judge Judy," aired in syndication from 1996 to 2021 and produced more than 6,200 episodes across 25 seasons.
Prime Video launched "Judy Justice" in 2021. The series ran for four seasons and more than 400 episodes.
Where can you watch full episodes of 'Judge Judy'?
Episodes of the original "Judge Judy" are available to stream for free on Pluto TV.
All four seasons of "Judy Justice" are available on Prime Video. The 120th and final episode is scheduled to premiere at 3 a.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 23.
How old is Judge Judy?
Sheindlin turned 84 on Oct. 21, 2026.
The Brooklyn native began her legal career in New York City and later served in the city's Family Court system before becoming a television star.
Sheindlin landed her television deal after being featured in a "60 Minutes" segment in 1993 that highlighted her reputation as one of the country's toughest family court judges.
In 2015, she earned the Guinness World Record for the longest career as a television courtroom judge. She has also received 26 Daytime Emmy Award nominations and won six Emmys, including a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Is Judge Judy retiring?
Sheindlin is retiring from serving as the on-screen judge in a courtroom television series, but she plans to remain active as a producer.
One of those projects is "Adam's Law," starring her son, Adam Levy, who previously served as Putnam County district attorney from 2007 to 2015.
"Adam's Law" airs in syndication and streams on Fubo in the United States.
What's next for Judge Judy?
Sheindlin has said she plans to stay involved in television production, including "Adam's Law" and the animated project "Judyverse."
She's also looking forward to spending more time with family and, as she recently told TV Insider, taking more afternoon naps.
