New York's fall foliage season typically begins in late September, with color appearing first at higher elevations before spreading across the rest of the state. I LOVE NY's weekly Fall Foliage Report tracks conditions across the state's 11 vacation regions to help visitors plan their trips.
From state parks and mountain overlooks to scenic roads, farms and historic sites, there are plenty of places to take in the colors. The Hudson Valley is especially popular for its river views, mountain scenery and overlooks.
For a scenic drive, travelers can watch for changing leaves along the Taconic State Parkway through Westchester County and the Palisades Interstate Parkway through Rockland County and northern New Jersey.
