Rupert Grint is heading back to Hogwarts and back to Broadway.
The actor, best known for playing Ron Weasley in the eight "Harry Potter" films, announced he will reprise the role as an adult in Broadway's "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child."
Grint, 38, will begin his limited Broadway run Feb. 2, 2027, and is scheduled to appear through May 30.
Rupert Grint returns as Ron Weasley
Grint played Harry Potter's best friend, Ron Weasley, in all eight "Harry Potter" films released between 2001 and 2011.
"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" picks up 19 years after the events of the final book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows." The story follows the children of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger as they begin their own adventures at Hogwarts.
The play premiered in London's
West End in 2016 before opening on Broadway in New York City in 2018.
While the story centers largely on the next generation of young wizards, the play also features adult versions of several familiar characters.
Grint announced his return in a video posted to Instagram showing a copy of the show's Playbill.
"Dusting off the old robes. New York, see you all in February," Grint wrote.
What Rupert Grint said about returning to Ron Weasley
"Ron Weasley has been a part of me since I was 11 years old and I can't wait to meet him again in this stage of life," Grint said in a statement.
"There is something so full-circle and so special about stepping back into Ron's shoes now when we are both fathers; it is somehow both very familiar and completely new. And the joy of being back on Broadway, this time in a role that defined so much of my life is truly exciting."
Grint and his partner, actress Georgia Groome, have two daughters.
Tom Felton also returned to Broadway as Draco Malfoy
Grint is not the first member of the original "Harry Potter" film cast to return to the Wizarding World on Broadway.
Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the films, began appearing in "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" in November 2025.
Felton's run was originally scheduled to end in March 2026 but was extended through January 2027 because of strong demand.
Felton and Grint are not expected to share the Broadway stage, however. Felton's extended run is scheduled to end before Grint begins performances in February.
