This summer, Rockland BOCES held a camp to introduce seventh and eighth graders to the various programs offered to high school students during the school year.
Campers participated in several hands-on courses at the BOCES Career and Technical Education Center in West Nyack
. There were four weeklong sessions held in July, where campers could attend one or all four weeks and try out the different offerings."Anything that we do here at Rockland BOCES in the Career and Technical Education Center, we try and offer in the summer in a sort of abridged version so that students get a chance to see what it is we do here at Rockland BOCES," said program coordinator Patrick Mitrione.
Classes included cosmetology, welding, construction, culinary arts, veterinarian
studies, woodworking and more.
A school year is 180 days, with no two days and no two schools exactly alike. The students differ, the teachers differ, school cultures differ. Here, our photographers find what makes our school days anything but ordinary, the people and programs and events that make a difference, school day in and school day out.
