A 28-year-old man was killed and two other people were injured after a three-alarm fire broke out at a Yonkers apartment building Thursday morning.
According to the Yonkers Fire Department, the fire started on the third floor of 13 Cedar St. at about 6 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they saw flames coming from a window.
Fire spreads to neighboring building
The Yonkers Fire Department said intense fire conditions caused the blaze to spread to the neighboring building at 15 Cedar St.
Firefighters contained the fire to the two buildings and spent nearly an hour extinguishing the blaze.
28-year-old man dies
A 28-year-old man, who has not yet been identified, was removed from the building and died from his injuries.
Two other people were taken to a local hospital with apparent non-life-threatening injuries.
The fire remains under investigation. Further details were not immediately available.
