Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will not receive a payment during August 2026, but there's no need for alarm.
Because Aug. 1 falls on a Saturday, the Social Security Administration (SSA) issued August's SSI payment one day early, on Friday, July 31. That means beneficiaries received their August benefit before the month began.
Here's what to know about August SSI and Social Security payments.
Why isn't there an SSI payment in August?
SSI recipients will not receive a payment during August because the month's benefit was paid early on July 31.
Under SSA policy, when the first day of the month falls on a weekend or federal holiday, SSI payments are issued on the preceding business day.
The same scheduling adjustment will happen two more times before the end of 2026.
Social Security payment dates for August 2026
While SSI
recipients won't receive another payment in August, regular Social Security retirement beneficiaries will receive their checks and direct deposits on the normal schedule.
According to the Social Security Administration's 2026 payment calendar:
- Monday, Aug. 3: People who began receiving benefits before May 1997
- Wednesday, Aug. 12: Birth dates between the 1st and 10th
- Wednesday, Aug. 19: Birth dates between the 11th and 20th
- Wednesday, Aug. 26: Birth dates between the 21st and 31st
Many SSI recipients also receive Social Security benefits, so they may still receive a Social Security payment in August even though no SSI payment is scheduled.
What is SSI?
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) provides monthly financial assistance to people who:
- Are age 65 or older
- Are blind
- Have a qualifying disability and meet strict income and asset limits
Adults generally must earn less than $2,019 per month in wages to qualify. Although many recipients receive both SSI and Social Security, the two programs are funded separately and follow different payment schedules.
Remaining SSI payment dates for 2026
The remaining SSI payment schedule for 2026 is:

- Thursday, Oct. 1: October payment
- Friday, Oct. 30: November payment
- Tuesday, Dec. 1: December payment
