Access to the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge on the New York State Thruway is closed to all traffic, according to New York State Police.
Cuomo Bridge access closed
State Police confirmed reports that access to the bridge was closed around 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Troopers are posted at most exits along Interstate 287 in both directions to redirect traffic, police said.
Rubbernecking has been reported from Exit 17 in Suffern to the New Jersey border and from Exit 10 in South Nyack on the Rockland County side. Traffic also has been affected from Exit 9 in Tarrytown to Exit 8 in White Plains.
When will the bridge reopen?
State Police did not confirm the reason for the temporary closure but said access was expected to reopen by noon.
Police advised commuters to avoid the area and make alternate travel plans.
