The Pleasantville Diner, a staple in Pleasantville since 1937, got its 15 minutes of fame Sept. 22 when "Law & Order SVU" filmed there. The episode was a 600th milestone for the long-running series with word that its main star, Mariska Hargitay, was there.
The Village of Pleasantville put out a Facebook notice a few days ago warning residents that the area around Memorial Plaza would be busy from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The old-timey diner, with bottomless coffee and soft drinks, is where Jerry Seinfeld filmed "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" with Steve Martin in 2015. Owner Ari Thanos also did an episode of "Diners, Drive Ins and Dives" with Guy Fieri at the Stamford Diner, which
he also owns, in 2023.
Among the popular menu items are matzo ball soup, house-made roast beef, triple-decker club sandwiches, half-pound burgers, and house-made turkey with stuffing, homemade gravy and cranberry sauce, all served year-round. No word or what the actors may (or may not have) eaten. For that, you'll have to tune in. The NBC show's Season 26 returns Oct. 8.
