New York State Police issued nearly 300 tickets during an enforcement effort targeting missing or obscured license plates used to evade tolls and traffic cameras.

The enforcement operation took place on the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge between Tarrytown and Nyack from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, according to State Police.
Troopers issued 287 tickets and impounded 39 vehicles.
Tickets were issued for suspended or unregistered vehicles, unlicensed operators, speeding, cellphone use, seat belt violations and failure to yield to emergency vehicles. One driver was also arrested for DWI.

The 39 vehicles were impounded for unpaid tolls, State Police said.
Troop T's Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit also conducted 32 vehicle inspections, resulting
in 10 vehicles being immediately taken out of service for safety-related violations. A total of 96 violations were issued during the inspections.
State Police did not release the identity of the driver arrested for DWI.
