September is always a time of new beginnings but this fall seems to be on overload with 46 eateries scheduled to open either in the next few weeks, next month or sometime before the end of the year. Along with mom-and-pop restaurants, hybrid markets and coffee shops, there's an increasing number of local and national chains, some in Westchester for the first time.
From a long awaited restaurant with beer brewed on the premises to a farmers market bagel brand opening its first brick and mortar to additional locations for a popular ramen shop, the following is your go-to guide to what's opening soon (ish) in Westchester. There's also news about a Pleasantville restaurant opening a second location in Putnam and a Northern Westchester design-forward
non-alcoholic bottle shop with a speakeasy vibe.
Capretta, Scarsdale
Z Hospitality which owns Aurora in Rye as well as multiple restaurants in Connecticut (think Mediterraneano, East End, Blackbird, Terra Danbury, Terra Greenwich and Solé) is behind this "innovative Italian" spot, opening for dinner Sept. 15. 57 Spencer Pl., zhospitalitygroup.com.
Jane Foodie Micro Cafe, Port Chester
Remember last April when Katonah resident Jane Carroll was on "Shark Tank" pitching her flash-frozen pre-cooked food — and got a deal with Lori Greiner? Well, now, the entrepreneur, who for a long time lived in Rockland (and a had an eatery in Pearl River), is opening a new cafe. This one, set to open sometime around Sept. 18 (ish), is larger than what she previously had in Yonkers (she also, long ago, had one in Tarrytown), with breakfast, lunch and dinner options (including beer, wine and cider) as well as room for all kinds of classes, including baking and food entrepreneurship.
It also features plenty of loungey seating, designed to feel more like a living room than a traditional restaurant thanks to vintage furniture, artwork and fresh flowers. Diners can expect panaffles (a pancake/waffle hybrid), cinnamon rolls, soups, stews, sandwiches, pasta bowls, baked beef Irish empanadas, and gluten-free meatloaf along with refrigerated cases filled with flash frozen meals. The new facility, complete with an open kitchen, serves as the flagship production home for Jane Foodie’s scratch-cooked foods and features an open kitchen where Carrol also plans to offer baking classes, special events and other experiences. 7th Street Burger, Yonkers
Smash burgers and fries are the main attraction at this beloved brand which is opening its first Westchester location Sept. 21 (or around then). The company, 34 locations strong, chose the area for both its proximity to New York City and the fact that many commuters and residents are already familiar with the brand. 2270 Central Park Ave., 7thstreetburger.com.
Climbing Wolf Kitchen Coffee + Beer, Tuckahoe
Brothers Chris and JB Gomez, owners of Climbing Wolf Coffee + Beer in Dobbs Ferry, are opening in the former Growler's space in late September. The two are aiming for pub fare (think burgers, fish and chips and a fry bar) but also hope to do their own play on fast food items like a cauliflower crunch wrap and a house Big Mac. 25 Main St., climbingwolf.com.
Run & Hide Brewing and Kitchen, Port Chester
The first week in October is the target date for this two-story brewery/restaurant. Owner Tim Shanley, who's been operating out of a bar down the street (which he'll close sometime in mid-September), is bringing his flair for fun and well honed brewing skills to a larger arena with three tanks and a full kitchen. Shanley, a co-owner of the since closed Coals Pizza, will be bringing some of his past goodies along with charcuterie and sandwiches from his neighboring space to the kitchen menu. Legacy Soul Kitchen, Sleepy Hollow
Comforting soul food favorites will be on the menu when this mother/daughter venture opens Sept. 18 (ish). The space takes over what had been Croqueteria. 166 Cortlandt St.
Pasion Tapas & Wines, Scarsdale
From Sweden to Scarsdale is the headline on what had been Micheline. An established European restaurant with roots in Scandinavia is bringing its upscale Spanish and Mediterranean tapas, wine and cocktail concept to Westchester with an opening planned for early November. The husband and wife team of Daisy and Shkëlzen Bucpapaj, who share a love of tapas and that Mediterranean way of gathering around a table, opened their first Pasion in Trollhättan in 2014 and hope to bring the Swedish feeling of “gemenskap," which loosely translates to community, connection, togetherness and a sense of belonging ,to Scarsdale where they're running the restaurant with longtime friends/Scarsdale residents.

Slave to the Grind, Briarcliff Manor
A second location of this popular caffeine spot is on track to open any day now with the same coffee drinks and food it offers at its original spot in Bronxville. This is the first time in 33 years the mother/daughter owners behind this family-run business have opened a new spot and they're excited to bring the same sense of community to Briarcliff Manor. 1924 Pleasantville Road, slavetothegrindcoffeehouse.com.
Mona's Sandwich Co., Chappaqua
A variety of gourmet sandwiches such as a chicken parm hero, Nashville hot chicken and burrata bliss are part of the repertoire at Mona's, which should open sometime in the next few weeks. Also on the menu: a bone marrow burger, steakhouse cheesesteak, Italian combo, wings, rice bowls and breakfast items. Chef Duge Perlleshi, whose been an executive steakhouse chef for over a decade (including Ora in Rye), is the visionary behind this new eat-in and take-out spot. 27 S. Greeley Ave.
I Scream, Sleepy Hollow
Something sweet — and a little spooky — is coming to Sleepy Hollow just in time for Halloween season. The new spot, set to open "soon," according to its Instagram post, will feature self-serve frozen yogurt, a variety of toppings and "good vibes." 72 Beekman Ave.
Pakal, Ardsley
This is most likely a "sometime before the end of the year" opening. The new Mexican spot, named after a Mayan king, comes from longtime restaurateurs (and sisters) Joana and Meto Herrera. The two, who previously owned Mariachi Mexico in Armonk (a 2024 USA Today "Restaurant of the Year" winner) said not to expect "Mariachi 2.0." This is a completely different menu honoring the traditions the two grew up with. It will still be seasonal and rely on local farms but there will be an emphasis on hand pressed heirloom corn tortillas (no burritos here) and different varieties of beans. Located in a building that dates to 1926, there will also be lots of cozy charm with a different decor and vibe than Armonk spot. 473 Ashford Ave.
Aussie's, Hastings-on-Hudson
Longtime barista Austin Furnas, who previously ran Boxing Day Cafe at HudCo in Dobbs Ferry, is opening a cafe built around his Australian background. The spot, in the space that previously had been Wild Culture Waffle, should open mid-September with a range of coffees, matcha and all-day breakfast including avocado toast, scrambled eggs and French toast sticks. 579 Warburton Ave.
Tarrytown Local, Tarrytown
Look for an early October opening of this hybrid grocer/cafe/bakery with an emphasis on sourcing locally. Fox Schanzer, a 10-year veteran of cooking in farm-to-table restaurants and fine dining kitchens, and Steve Wazny, a former lawyer turned line cook, are the visionaries behind this concept which will offer a wide variety of shopping and eating options.
Customers can expect a grocer in front complete with fresh produce, dairy, meats, cheeses, pantry staples, and dry goods, as well as a 25-seat full-service cafe serving breakfast and lunch (with dinner to come). There will also be a more casual seating area where folks can munch on pastries and freshly milled bread prepared by Katrina Poulin, who leads the store's bakery portion. Everything will be hand-milled daily using locally-sourced grains and an Austrian mill.
Schanzer, who's long been inspired by Trader Joe's, is also jazzed about the shop's frozen foods section, which will feature handmade snacks along with his rendition of Trader Joe's frozen latkes. There will also be a prepared foods section featuring everything from lasagnas to meat and chicken dishes to whatever Schanzer wants to cook as well as what people want him to cook (he's taking requests). Menu items will be ever-changing depending on the seasons. Beverages also get the local touch with all items sourced from the Hudson Valley. Eventually, there will be wine and beer. 57 N. Mama Burger, Yonkers
America's obsession with burgers continues at this takeout-oriented burger eatery, the first for Victor Santos and his "Mama" brand which is also opening Mamasushi and Mama Juana on the Yonkers waterfront. What makes these burgers different will be the infusion of Dominican flavors. Look for a late September/early October opening in the former Urge Burger space. 1 Van Der Donck St.
DoughCo Bagels, Irvington
Since operating at farmers markets for four years, brothers Jacob and Josh Small have regularly gotten the question, "Where can we find your bagels during the week?" That, plus needing a larger production space, was the impetus behind their first brick and mortar. Set to open sometime in late September/mid October, it will feature their popular varieties (think plain, everything, onion, poppy and, rosemary salt plus cinnamon raisin, pretzel and z'tar), all of which use flour that's never bleached or bromated. Also offered: breakfast sandwiches and about six different cream cheese spreads. Diners can expect about four tables and a standing bar. And for those who love farmers markets, no worries — they'll continue to be at their usual spots. 50 S. Buckhout St., doughcobagels.com.
Iguanarita, Tarrytown
A former art gallery has been turned into a vibey Tex-Mex spot with tableside guac and creative cocktails. Set to open sometime in late September/early October (ish), it's the brainchild of James Shallo who's been in the business for years, including at Jean-Georges in Pound Ridge and the Mamaroneck Beach & Yacht Club in Mamaroneck. 39 Main St.
Duke's Ramen, New Rochelle and White Plains
Gene Lum, the chef/owner behind four-year-old Duke's Ramen in Mamaroneck is expanding. The longtime restaurateur is bringing his fast casual ramen concept, modeled after counter places in Japan, to the former Wooden Spoon location in the Wykagyl Shopping Center in New Rochelle as well as to North Broadway in White Plains. New Ro should open first, sometime in early October, with White Plains opening later in the year. On the menu: an assortment of ramen dishes along with small bites (think pork shumai and edaname) and specials like an ahi tuna poke bowl and seaweed salad. 1282 North Ave., New Rochelle and 1 N. BXV Steak, Bronxville
Look for BXV Steak coming to the former Tav'ery spot in Bronxville sometime in October. The new spot is the vision of local resident Gieto Nicaj who owns Patsy's of Bronxville a few doors down with his son, Alec. The longtime restaurateur also owns One if by Land, Two if by Sea in Manhattan along with Patsy's Pizza on Water Street in the Financial District. 131 Parkway Road.
Baci Italian Bakery, Montrose
This new venture, from Chris Weisman who owns Pizzeria Baci next door, could open any day now so watch the pizzeria's social media page. Located where Red Door Baking Company had been, it will feature old-school delights and some of Weisman's famous sourdough creations including ciabatta, panini and more. 2083 Albany Post Road.
The Farm Cafe, Chappaqua
Sometime this fall is when this Valhalla-based cafe should open. As its smaller than its original spot, it will feature a truncated menu though diners can still expect a variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches, pastries, baked goods, coffee drinks and more. 75 S Greeley Ave., thefarmcafeny.com.
Crema Caffè, Eastchester
Expect a different ambiance when this Italian cafe expands into the space next door sometime in mid-October. Instead of a coffee focus, the emphasis is on aperitivos. Co-owner Paul Russo said it will be Westchester's first amaro bar with "a little Ralph Lauren Americana and a lot of character." 9 Sunnyside Terrace, cremacaffe-eastchester.com.
Bobo's, Yorktown Heights and Tarrytown
The coffee, acai bowls, egg sandwiches, grilled cheeses, salads, and other breakfast and lunch items you know and love from Bobo's other locations (i.e. Somers, Baldwin Place, Chappaqua) are coming within the next month-ish or so to Yorktown and late 2026/early 2027 to Tarrytown. 1726 Underhill Circle, Yorktown Heights; 45 N. La Mer Oyster Bar, Armonk
Sean and Sophia Wiener, owners of La Mer Seafood, are opening an oyster bar with Southeast Asian and Japanese influences next door. Diners can expect seafood and small plates (including options for non-seafood lovers) from Executive Chef Rob Viera who, in his 15 years of culinary experience, has had roles at Buddakan, Quality Meats, Catch and Soho House along with, more recently, The Crooked Quill and Blind Pig in White Plains. 405 Main St.
Lazy Sister, Mount Kisco
There's a fun sense of humor surrounding this Norwalk, Conn.-based Chinese eatery, which is opening its first location in Westchester in late October. "Congrats on leaving the house," reads the copy on its website before listing a menu filled with dim sum, salads, soups, noodles, meat and seafood entrees, cocktails and what they call "enchanted Szechuan favorites." 36 E Main St., lazysisterchinese.com.
Wildly Cakes, Dobbs Ferry
Look for a larger location of this already popular-bakery, which has been in Dobbs since 2020. Along with cakes, cupcakes, macaroons, and cookies, the new space will feature coffee and other other baked goods such as conchas, croissants and cinnamon rolls. Owner/Baker Maria Ramirez also plans to add Mexican-inspired touches throughout both the menu and the space, which should open by the end of the month (ish). Also important to Ramirez is supporting and collaborating with other local small businesses, especially those that are women-owned. 10 Cedar St., wildlycakes.com.
Dave's Hot Chicken, Mohegan Lake
Dave’s Hot Chicken is opening its third Westchester location Sept. 17. Come on "grand opening" day on the 18th when the first 100 in line will get free shakes or slushers. The eatery specializes in hot chicken sliders, tenders and bites along with sides of house-made kale slaw, fries and mac and cheese. It's also known for its seven various spice levels ranging from Not Hot to our the Reaper™. 3150 E Main St., daveshotchicken.com.
Mamajuana, Yonkers
As has already been widely reported, Mamajuana, a lively Dominican spot which originated in the Bronx, is coming to the space formerly occupied by The Pier Steakhouse sometime in late September/early October. 1 Van Der Donck St.
Mamasushi, Yonkers
Both traditional sushi and sushi a la plátano, a Dominican-style fusion sushi, are on the menu at this new restaurant, set to open at the same time as its siblings Mama Burger and Mamajuana. 1 Van Der Donck St.
Pizza Girls NY, Mount Kisco
There's no official date for this opening though it's close to ready and should be soon. On the menu: artisanal pizzas crafted from scratch and sourced from local markets as well as salads.This is the first sit-down restaurant for the company which previously was found exclusively at farmers markets, private parties and pop-ups. Chick-fil-A, Greenburgh
This free-standing Chick-fil-A, complete with a drive-thru, it set to open later this year, featuring all of the company's favorites. It is the third Chick-fil-A to open this fall (pending any delays), with existing spots in Scarsdale and Yonkers. 20 Tarrytown Road, chick-fil-a.com.
Shake Shack, Mount Kisco
More burgers are on the way with the Sept. 16 opening of this chain, its sixth location in Westchester. As with its other spots (i.e. Port Chester, Hartsdale, Yonkers, White Plains), diners can expect burgers, shakes and fries. 176 N Bedford Road, 914-566-4064, shakeshack.com.
Compton's, Tarrytown
This sandwich brand is opening its first Westchester location in the former Dominic’s Delicatessen space sometime before the end of the year. The company, with locations in Astoria, Greenpoint, Cobble Hill and Cliffside, New Jersey operates on the principle that "good people deserve good food." Since opening in 2018, is become known for its attention to detail and focus on quality with menus that reflect the energy and diversity of the neighborhoods they serve. 15 N. Broadway, comptons.nyc.
Teriyaki Madness, Yonkers
The chain, which opened its first Westchester location in New Rochelle earlier this year, is opening later this September in downtown Yonkers. The Denver-based franchise, which has more than 200 eateries across 40 states, is known for featuring customizable, protein-packed dishes such as marinated chicken, steak, salmon, tofu and fresh veggies over rice or Yakisoba noodles, complemented by signature sauces and sides like eggrolls and edamame. 34 Main St. teriyakimadness.com.
Keane’s Bar and Restaurant, Yorktown Heights
Dave Keane, who owns Nugent's Pub in Yonkers and was an owner of the since closed Maggie Spillane's in Mount Vernon, is opening a sizeable space in the shopping center where Uncle Giuseppe's used to be. The restaurant, which will have a party room for up to 100, will feature American cuisine — think burgers, wraps, wings and pizza. Keane said his goal is to cater to the community and surrounding area with a cozy, casual vibe that caters to every occassion. 380 Downey Drive
The Windermere Tea Room & Bakery, Mount Kisco
Leigh and Drew Hodgson, the couple behind the British specialty store The Hamlet and the The Ambleside Pub (a USA Today "best bar 2026" pick), are now going after the tea crowd with The Windermere Tea Room & Bakery, set for sometime in November. Their new spot, with a traditional English tea (think tiered plates, scones, finger sandwiches and lots of tea options), is going into to the space formerly occupied by The Getaway Car and will feature many of The Ambleside's popular food items such as sausage rolls and pies. The name, like The Ambleside before it (named for a village Drew grew up visiting), also has meaning as Windermere is a Lake District town five miles south of Ambleside where Drew's family is from. 222 E Main St.
Juiiicy, New Rochelle
Look for a second location for this Latin-fusion healthy eats and juice spot opening at the New Rochelle MetroNorth train station sometime in November. The sister-owned cafe opened last February no far away at 9 S. Division Street. 24 Station Plaza, juiiicynewyork.com.
Hillside Provisions, West Harrison
Hillside Provisions, set for a later this fall opening, is a New-American cafe and restaurant focused on offering well-crafted food and beverage experiences across a range of culinary disciplines, including coffee, prepared and take-away food, in-person dining, market and provisions, and catering. Owned and operated by chefs who've been in the business for many years across fine dining, corporate and catering, its core identity is grounded in meticulously developed menu items while also being a trusted partner in the community. Westchester natives Rachel and Jonathan Kava, the latter of whom has worked at such establishments as Daniel Boulud, Jean-Georges, Blue Hill and more, are the owners, with Megan Kiolbasa, who has a range of fine-dining experience in New York City, serving as executive chef. 3 Westchester Park Dr., hillsideprovisions.com.
Conti's Pastry Shoppe, Eastchester
Conti's, in the Bronx since 1921, is opening its first location in Westchester sometime in early 2027. The location, smaller than the original, will be a like a "mini Bronx" according to owner Safet Paljevic, with all of its classics (think Italian pastries, Boston cream pie, cheesecakes and more). Olga's Pisco and Mezcal Bar, Yonkers
Robert Rosario, who ownsGuapo Mexican and Cuban Restaurant on Warburton Avenue, is opening a new eatery in December focused on Peruvian cuisine with Mexican touches. His vision, he said, is to offer a gastronomic concept celebrating and connecting two of Latin America’s most renowned culinary cultures. The experience will be complemented by a signature cocktail bar specializing in a fusion of Peruvian pisco and Mexican mezcal.
Rosario said he wanted to open another location downtown because, after a decade operating Guapo, he wanted to enhance the Yonkers downtown waterfront with a new concept. 1 Pier Pointe St.
Mandarin Market, Scarsdale
The space that had been California Pizza Kitchen is being transformed into a Chinese/Mandarin street food experience featuring an open kitchen and a variety of traditional Chinese street fare and delicacies, including dumplings, noodles, clay pot rice, roasted meats, and seasonal vegetables. The market, the brainchild of Peter Liu, the owner of O Mandarin in Hartsdale, will also offer its own line of private-label seasonings, sauces, Chinese cookbooks, and culturally inspired items. Nippon Cha, Mamaroneck
The first Nippon Cha is opening in Mamaroneck sometime this season. This modern Japanese cafe, with locations in Brooklyn, Bayside and Westbury, is all about premium matcha, Japanese specialty drinks, desserts, sushi and donburi bowls. 448 Mamaroneck Ave., nipponcha.us.
Coffee Shop, Yonkers
John Racanelli of First Generation Hospitality L.L.C. is behind this venture with an undetermined opening date. The company also owns Pizza & Brew in Scarsdale, and Public Pizza Italian Restaurant & Bar and Casa Fuego in Yonkers (Ridge Hill). No word yet on what kind of food to expect though the signage on the door reads "breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails." 28 Wells Ave.
Doughnuttery, Yonkers
Founded in 2012, this NYC-based brand specializes in hot miniature doughnuts made using proprietary sugar blends and high quality, local and exotic ingredients. Opening later this year, it's the first standalone New York franchise location and is operated by Westchester locals and longtime friends Ian Silva and Jonel Gonzalez. The 500-square-foot space will be located next to L.A. Fitness in the Ridge Hill Shopping Center. 1 Ridge Hill Blvd., doughnuttery.com.
Toastique, Yonkers
Toastique, which first burst onto the Westchester market with its 2024 opening in New Rochelle, will now have a second spot under the same father/son franchise ownership of Michael and James Simone. This one will be a 1,200-square food space next to the Archer Avenue garage entrance at Ridge Hill. The focus, as the name implies, is on artfully crafted toasts along with açaí and smoothie bowls, cold-pressed juices, hand-crafted coffee, wellness shots, and grab-and-go items. 1 Ridge Hill Blvd., toastique.com.
The Mockery, Katonah
Get ready ring in the new year when this design-forward non-alcoholic bottle shop and celebration store opens in January. Founded by Katonah-area residents Ali Tejtel and Michelle Pletka, the goal of the speakeasy-styled store is simple: alcohol may be optional but the good parts of drinking culture are not. The bottle. The proper glass. The aperitif at 5:30. The olives. The hostess gift. The dinner party. The excuse to open something beautiful on an otherwise unremarkable Tuesday. At The Mockery, the ritual is still part of the equation.
The approximately 1,200-square-foot store will offer a highly curated selection of nonalcoholic wines,aperitifs, spirits, beers and mixers, along with functional and adaptogenic beverages, elevated snacks,glassware, barware, homeware, gifts and entertaining provisions. 152 Bedford Road, tastethemockery.com.
A Westchester restaurant adds Putnam to its portfolio
There's also news about a restaurant couple opening a second location in Mahopac. Christina Drake Safarowic and her husband Matt Safarowic, owners of Freddy's in Pleasantville, are opening where My Cousin's had been, giving them a much larger space with a parking lot, patio, and second floor party room as well as triple the seats of Pleasantville. For the couple, who have family in the area, it felt like the natural next step.
The menu will be similar to Pleasantville, but slightly larger, with more handhelds as well as steaks. They will also have a happy hour Tuesday through Friday from 4 to 6 p.m., something they don't have in Pleasantville. The goal is to open in October. 954 Route 6, Mahopac, freddyspleasantville.com.
