For the second consecutive week, there was real movement in the ranking with one of the top three dropping considerably and giving way to two teams on a steady climb.
While John Jay-East Fishkill has scuffled, Scarsdale and Mamaroneck have continued to ascend and announced themselves as legitimate Class AAA title contenders. Lakeland still is undefeated, and Walter Panas pushed its way into the ranking this week.

Boys soccer power rankings
1. Rye (5-0)
The Garnets let up their first goal and played in their first close game this season, but the result was a 2-1 win over Suffern. They've got some quality opponents upcoming, facing Walter Panas and rival Byram Hills this week. Last week: 1
2. New Rochelle (4-0)
They survived a mild scare, pulling out a 3-2 win over
Port Chester, but the Huguenots are clearly among the favorites to challenge again for a Section 1 Class AAA title. Last week: 2
3. Harrison (4-1)
The Huskies had quality wins over Arlington and Keio Academy last week and haven’t yielded a goal since their season-opening loss to Rye. Last week: 3
4. Scarsdale (4-0-1)
They've impressed thus far and continue to climb this ranking. The lone quasi-blemish on their record was a tie against John Jay-East Fishkill. The Raiders have a challenging week ahead, facing Mamaroneck, Port Chester and White Plains. Last week: 5
5. Mamaroneck (5-0)
The Tigers' wins have come with style points, outscoring opponents 19-1 overall, and it's earned them a two-spot jump on the list this week. The road ahead is difficult, though, as they've got Scarsdale and New Rochelle on the schedule soon. Last week: 7
6. Mahopac (4-1-1)
Granted, Fox Lane is a talented team with a couple dynamic playmakers, but Mahopac did surrender its most goals in a game in a 3-3 tie with the Foxes. The Wolf Pac will need to be on-point, hosting a surging Lakeland squad on Thursday. Last week: 6
7. Lakeland (6-0)
The Hornets have taken care of business and budding stars like Luke Gomes and Nick Ahmataj are quickly emerging. But the difficulty setting gets turned up some notches this week, facing Clarkstown South and Mahopac. Last week: 8
8. John Jay-East Fishkill (1-3-2)
The September swoon continued for them last week, tying Ramapo and losing to Section 2's Shenendehowa. The defending Section 1 Class AAA champs remain in the top 10 for now, but they'll have to get untracked soon with games against rivals North Rockland and Ketcham this week. Last week: 3
9. Walter Panas (3-0-1)
They've got a stout defense that has allowed only a goal so far, and the senior-laden roster has talent and depth. Wins over Tappan Zee and Byram Hills earned them a spot in the ranking. Last week: N/R
10. Pleasantville (3-1-1)
In what might've been a Class B playoff preview, the Panthers narrowly avoided loss to Briarcliff in their Break The Hold game last Saturday. Pleasantville rallied to tie with four minutes left, but the Bears nearly scored the winner with 19 seconds left. The Panthers have tough matchups this week against Irvington and North Salem. Last week: 9
On the bubble: Byram Hills (3-1-1), Irvington (5-0-1), Port Chester (2-1-1), North Salem (2-1-2)
