Several people were hospitalized with minor injuries after a fuel truck crashed into a passenger van Tuesday in Yonkers.
The crash involving the tractor-trailer and passenger van happened at the intersection of Yonkers Avenue and Midland Avenue around 11:52 a.m., according to the Yonkers Police Department.
Fuel spills after Yonkers crash
Some fuel spilled onto the roadway following the crash, prompting portions of Yonkers Avenue and Midland Avenue to close for several hours while hazardous materials crews responded to clean up the spill.
The roads reopened around 5:30 p.m.
Five people in the passenger van were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries, Yonkers police said.
Driver to receive summons
Police said the driver of the van will be issued summonses for making a turn without yielding to traffic.
