Storm expected to peak through Sunday
Forecasters expect conditions to worsen through Saturday, with the storm reaching peak intensity from Saturday into early Sunday. Gusty winds, rough surf and coastal flooding could linger into Monday even after the heaviest rain tapers off.
Rain and wind forecast
Parts of central and eastern Long Island could receive 3 to 4 inches of rain, while many other locations are forecast to see 1 to 3 inches.
Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph are possible in many coastal areas, with isolated
gusts approaching 55 mph. Forecasters warn that fully leafed trees could increase the risk of downed limbs and scattered power outages.
Coastal flooding remains the biggest threat
