The stars shined brightly last week, including the scorers showing out and excellent goalkeepers putting forth dominant performances. As well, a trio of tournaments and games for worthy causes were punctuated by dramatic finishes. All of that resulted in us having 11 candidates for Boys Soccer Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital.
The previous poll winners this season were Sebastian Chacon (Ardsley) and Felix Wismer (Rye).
Read below about what the nominees accomplished last week, then cast your votes. The poll will be open until 3 p.m. Wednesday, and the winner will be featured on the lohud sports social media accounts.
Zaid Ayyoub, Nyack
The junior scored the winner in a 2-1 victory over Nanuet last Saturday, capping Nyack's Red Bandana Showcase.
The event was held to honor Welles Crowther, a Nyack native and one of the heroes on 9/11.
Owen Boodell, Edgemont
He had seven goals in four games last week, all victories, and scored the winner with seven minutes left against Hen Hud.
Chase Colyer, Dobbs Ferry
He had six goals and two assists in the Eagles' four games last week, including a hat trick in their 3-3 tie with Hamilton and two goals and an assist to lead them in a 4-3 win over Ardsley in the third-place match of the Rivertowns Cup tournament.
Derek Kaczmarczyk, Tappan Zee
He totaled six goals in two wins for the Dutchmen last week, including erupting for a career-high five goals in the second half of a 5-2 win over Suffern on Monday.
George Haines, Mamaroneck
He scored two goals in the Tigers' 3-0 win over Rye Neck and had a goal in their 4-0 win over White Plains.
Ayden Heskestad, Clarkstown South
The goalkeeper made eight saves each, including difficult stops, to preserve scoreless ties against North Rockland and John Jay-Cross River. He had seven saves in the Vikings' 1-0 win over Yonkers.
Daniel Juncaj, Eastchester
The midfielder had two goals and two assists in two games, both wins, for Eastchester last week.
JP Lockwood, Briarcliff
He scored the winning goals in a 1-0 win over Rye Neck and a 2-1 victory over Dobbs Ferry.
Lucas Ormazabal, Fox Lane
He scored six goals last week in the Foxes' three games, including a hat trick in a win over Roosevelt, and the tying goals against Mahopac and Byram Hills.
Nick Tassier, Pleasantville
The midfielder scored twice to lead Pleasantville in a 3-0 win over Blind Brook and he assisted Devin O'Sullivan's tying goal with four minutes left against Briarcliff in the teams' annual Break The Hold event at Pace University on Saturday.
Justin Wilmot, Hastings
The goalie made 10 saves in a 1-0 shutout of Ardsley and had a stop in penalty kicks, helping Hastings beat Irvington in a round of PKs to win the Rivertowns Cup tournament title.
