As Bautista's hearing started, a man from the courtroom gallery stood up and left the room.
While San Joaquin County Superior Court Judge Seth Hoyt Jr. read the charges to Bautista, an interruption occurred just outside of the courtroom, which promoted bailiffs to step outside of the courtroom to attend to the matter.
A person was heard saying, "if you touch me." It was unclear if the phrase was from the person causing the interruption or if it was the bailiff's.
As yelling was heard outside the courtroom, a bailiff entered the courtroom and urged Hoyt to step off the bench. The direction was given twice to the judge as he exited the courtroom.
A few moments later, court resumed and Hoyt continued with the reading of Bautista's charges.
Public defender Nickolas Evans was appointed to represent Bautista. He urged his attorney for a quicker return date back to court, but was advised by Hoyt that rushing a matter does not always work in favor of a defendant.
Bautista asked for a sooner court date. The next hearing was scheduled for Aug. 24.
Bautista was ordered present and bail was not allowed.
Court records showed Bautista has nine cases in total from 2026, with five cases being criminal matters and four being traffic matters. His criminal cases include charges of corporal injury to spouse/cohabitant/ parent of child, possessing a firearm and controlled substance, taking a vehicle without an owners consent/vehicle theft, and criminal threats.
