Election Day is approaching.
Voters have the opportunity to make their voices heard and elect who they want in office in the Nov. 3 General Election.
As of Sept. 24, the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters (ROV) began mailing the County Voter Information Guides.

Here are the key dates to ensure your ballot is cast and counted:
- On or before Oct. 5 , San Joaquin County elections officials will begin mailing ballots;
- From Oct. 5 to Nov. 3, will be the vote-by-mail early voting period and voters may vote in person or drop off a ballot at the ROV;
- On Oct. 6, secure ballot drop boxes will open;
- Oct. 19, is the last day to register to vote. However, same day voter registration is available at county elections offices or voting locations after the voter registration deadline up to and including on Election Day;
- Oct. 20 to Nov. 3, is Conditional Voter Registration. Eligible voters who missed the 15-day close may appear in person at the ROV or a polling place on Election Day and register to vote provisionally for this election;
- Oct. 27, is the last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot;
- Nov. 3 is Election Day. All polling places are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. for drop-off or in-person voting. Mailed ballots must be postmarked by this date. Beginning at 8 p.m., the ROV reports election results and reports totals to the California chief elections officer, Secretary of State Shirley Weber, at least every two hours until completed.
It is recommended to mail your ballot at least seven days prior to Election Day. If mailed closer to Election Day, it is suggested to take the ballot to the U.S Post Office and ask a postal employee for a manual postmark.
