Desiree Lynch, a candidate for Stockton City Council District 5, was arrested on Aug. 19 on a local warrant alleging multiple felony-election related offenses, according to San Joaquin County Jail records.
Lynch was booked at 10:16 a.m. on Aug. 19 by the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office investigations division, jail records show. Her bail was set at $100,000.
The warrant lists five felony counts: three counts of perjury under Penal Code section 118(a), one count of voter registration violation under Elections Code section 18100(a) and one count of filing a false declaration of candidacy under Elections Code section 18203.
A court date has been set for 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 20, according to jail records.
The charges stem from allegations
regarding Lynch’s candidacy for the District 5 seat. Lynch is challenging incumbent Brando Villapudua in the Nov. 3 general election.
Lynch remained in custody as of 11:30 a.m. Aug. 19.
