A 40-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with a July 24 double homicide in Stockton.
The Stockton Police Department said Nathan Miller was detained and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on July 30. He was charged with two counts of felony murder.
Miller is scheduled to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 3 in Stockton, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s jail custody log. He is being held without bail.
Police said officers were called to the scene of the double homicide at about 9:20 p.m. in the area of Pershing Avenue and Rosemarie Lane on a report of a shooting.
At the scene, a 58-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman were found in an alleyway suffering from gunshot wounds.
Previously, police said the pair were in their
40s.
Officers provided medical aid to the pair until medical personnel arrived and transferred them to a hospital. At the hospital they were pronounced deceased, police said.
As of 6:25 p.m. Thursday, the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office said it was still working on the notification of next of kin in order to release the identity of the two people killed.
The deaths marked the city’s 18th and 19th homicides of the year.
