A man was arrested Thursday following a vehicle pursuit in Stockton that resulted in a deputy-involved shooting, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said.
Julio Llerenas, 27, is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 14 and his bail was set at $140,000.
Sheriffs said shortly after 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10 deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop near South Tuxedo and North Pershing Avenues.
The driver, Llerenas, failed to yield and led deputies on a pursuit, the sheriff's office said.
The pursuit continued to the southbound Interstate 5 on-ramp at March Lane, where deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies said during the incident Llerenas’ car was used in an “apparent” attempt to assault a deputy
which led to the deputy-involved shooting.
Llerenas continued to flee authorities and was eventually arrested near Melbourne Avenue and Acacia Street, according to deputies.
No deputies or Llerenas were injured during the shooting. The California Highway Patrol will be investigating the shooting.
Law enforcement said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
