Football time is now. Where do all of Northeast Florida's teams stack up?

The Times-Union ranks every program in the Florida High School Athletic Association as well as the Sunshine State Athletic Association and independents across Jacksonville and Northeast Florida, before the Week 1 FHSAA kickoff on Aug. 21.

Reigning champion Raines, which won Class 3A a year ago, leads the FHSAA pack. The ranking stretches from No. 1 to No. 41 in the FHSAA and from No. 1 to No. 23 for the SSAA and independents, weighing factors including previous performance, strength of opposition and overall returning talent.

As always, though, what counts isn't where teams start the season; it's how they finish.
