A motorcyclist died Saturday, Aug. 15, after a collision with an SUV on North Main Street, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The crash happened around 8 p.m. in the 2500 block of North Main Street. A man in his mid-20s was riding a motorcycle southbound when a Nissan Kick SUV, driven by a man in his late 40s, turned left onto westbound 16th Street, police said in a news release. The motorcycle struck the passenger side of the SUV.
Jacksonville Fire Rescue transported the motorcycle rider to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to the news release.
The crash was the 113th traffic fatality in Duval County this year.

Through August 13, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles reported 17 fatalities in 256 motorcycle crashes this year in Duval County. In Duval, St. Johns, Clay and Nassau counties, 27 fatalities in 398 motorcycle crashes were reported during the same time frame.
