A recap of the Jacksonville Jaguars' training camp practice on Sunday, Aug. 9.
Player participation
Did not practice: OT Cole Van Lanen (right knee) remains on the physically unable to perform list. OT Garrett DiGiorgio (foot) was placed on injured reserve on Aug. 8. LB Jack Kiser (right knee, out since July 29), OT Walker Little (undisclosed, out since Aug. 7), RG Patrick Mekari (back, out all of camp). DT Arik Armstead appeared to have the day off. G Emmanuel Pregnon had a helmet, but missed his third straight practice.
New injuries: TE Quintin Morris and DE Zach Durfee did not practice because of undisclosed issues. G/T Chuma Edoga (injured on Aug. 7) had a helmet but did no offensive line work side from lining up as an extra tight end.

Top plays
WR Parker Washington (who else?) got open down the right sideline and caught QB Trevor Lawrence’s bomb for a would-be touchdown.
Lawrence’s second-best throw showed great touch, layering the football over CB Jabbar Muhammad to complete a deep crosser to WR Brian Thomas, Jr.
Thumbs up
WR Austin Trammell: He had four catches in team work and should ask to have the practice video put on thumb drives he can send to his friends and family.
S Eric Murray: He continues to be active with a goal-line interception and would-be sack of QB Trevor Lawrence.
WR Parker Washington: He continues to live in “Thumbs Up Territory,” after three more catches in team work.
Thumbs down
Penalties: On just the final possession for QB Trevor Lawrence, there was an offside penalty on DE Travon Walker and a false start penalty on TE Nate Boerkircher.
RB J’Mari Taylor: The rookie broke through to the second level, but was stripped by S Rayuan Lane III.
Odds and Ends
- The Jaguars’ ninth practice of training camp (the walk-through on Aug. 8 doesn’t count) was open to the public and consisted of 56 plays of 11-on-11 work and one significant 1-on-1 period.
- New OT Geron Christian, signed on Aug. 8, participated in his first practice.
- Practice charting had Lawrence completing 10 of 15 passes, Nick Mullens eight of 14, Carter Bradley all three of his attempts and Joey Aguliar his only attempt.
- Another day, another day of juggling for the Jaguars’ offensive line and mostly by necessity because of the injury issues. Wyatt Milum was again the first-team right tackle and Jonah Monheim the first-team right guard. Offensive coordinator Grant Udinski is taking a glass-is-half-full outlook about the proceedings. “It will be beneficial because we know we’re not going to have the same five starters for every single rep of every single game,” he said. “We have to make sure each iteration of the offensive line is as cohesive as the starting unit.”
- The first two drives of 11-on-11 were first team vs. first team/second team vs. second team. Lawrence opened his second drive with the aforementioned downfield pass to WR Parker Washington. Mullens started his second drive with a pass to TE Nate Boerkircher.
- The Jaguars’ quarterbacks and all non-linemen split into two fields for simultaneous sessions. Offensive highlights included catches by Washington, WR Brian Thomas, Jr., TE Tanner Koziol, TE Patrick Herbert Defensive highlights were pass break-ups by S Antonio Johnson, C Preston Hodge, CB Jabbar Muhammad and S Jalen Huskey and solid coverage by CB Jourdan Lewis. Lowlights were penalties on CB Devon Marshall and CB Jarrian Jones. The linemen had one session on 1-on-1 pass rush/protection that was out of view from the media.
- Third segment of 11-on-11 work: Lawrence to Washington on a shallow cross, Washington catch with Jones in coverage, long Mullens-to-Trammell throw-and-catch, a false start penalty and Thomas’ deep over route.
- Fourth segment of 11-on-11 work: DE Josh Hines-Allen would-be sack of Lawrence, S Eric Murray sack of Lawrence, two more Trammell catches from Mullens and poor Lawrence throw (or miscommunication) to WR Jakobi Meyers.
- Former Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette attended practice.
Upcoming schedule
The Jaguars are off on Aug. 10, then practice on Aug. 11-12, sessions closed to the public.
