Chloe Schiavone of Jacksonville has finally broken back into the winner's circle in a statewide event.
After a series of close calls spanning more than six years, the Bolles graduate romped to a victory
in the 14th Florida State Golf Association Women's Mid-Amateur Aug 14-16 at the Sugar Mill Golf Club in New Smyrna Beach. After an opening-round 75, Schiavone posted back-to-back rounds of 71 and at 1-over 217, defeated Isabel McMahon of Orlando by five shots.

Tama Caldabaugh of Ponte Vedra Beach (238) tied for 11th and Therese Quinn of Jacksonville (244) was 16th.
Schiavone, who had a seven-shot lead at one point in the final round, last won an FSGA event in 2019, when she and Ariel Yu won their second Florida Women's Four-Ball in a row. Schiavone also won the 2018 Florida Junior Girls at Bent Pine and was the state junior player of the year.
The Notre Dame and Virginia graduate has been playing at a high level this summer. Schiavone was second in the First Coast Women's Amateur, tied for third in the Florida Women's Open, was solo 10th in the Florida Women's Amateur and tied for 17th in the Florida Women's Stroke Play.
Stephanie Connelly-Eiswerth in third PGA Cup
San Jose Country Club teaching professional Stephanie Connelly-Eiswerth will represent the U.S. for the third time in the Women's PGA Cup, Sept. 3-5 at the Carden Park Golf Resort in England.
Connelly-Eiswerth, the 2023 and 2024 Women’s PGA Professional Player of the Year, was the medalist in the 2024 PGA Cup at the Sunriver Resort in Oregon with a 66.
The Women’s PGA Cup is a biennial international event with teams from the U.S., Australia, Canada, Great Britain/Ireland, South Africa and Sweden in a 54-hole stroke-play format. The low three of five scores per team in each round go towards the team total per round.
The U.S. is going for its fourth consecutive victory. The U.S. team is picked through a two-year point system that includes the 2025 and 2026 Women’s Stroke Play Championship, the 2025-2026 LPGA Professionals Championship and the final money lists of the 2024-25 PGA Tournament Series.
Any PGA Member who made the cut at the 2025-26 KPMG Women’s PGA Championships, 2025-26 U.S. Women’s Opens or the 2025-26 PGA Professional Championships also earned points.
Beachside wins Back to School
The Beachside High boys team delivered a solid opening statement to the fall season by taking two of the top three spots in the individual standings to record a three-shot team victory over Providence at even-par 280 in the Back to School Tournament at the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club Lagoon Course.
Jaspreet Kondal of the Barracudas won the individual title with an 8-under 62 that included an eagle, seven birdies and one bogey. Teammate Christopher Grota and Alexander Stewart of Providence tied for second at 6-under 64, James Nagle of Ponte Vedra shot 65 and Brendan Walrath of Bolles had a 69.
Elize Nograbat comes close again
Elize Nograbat of St. Johns keeps putting herself in the mix on the Florida Junior Tour. She logged her fourth second-place finish in the Sandridge Open (13-15), with an even-par 144, coming within one shot of winner Stella Ronja Lind of Doral. Olivia Campbell of St. Augustine (151) was fifth. Nograbat has three victories to go with her four seconds in 12 FJT starts this season. … Christopher Grota of St. Augustine, Fletcher Cummings of Fleming Island and Atharva Rajeshkumar of Ponte Vedra Beach (148) tied for 10th in the boys division … Alexander Stewart of Jacksonville (143) tied for second in the boys division of the FJT 16-18 Aileron Open, at the Aileron Golf Club in Lake Suzy, three shots behind winner Amine El Omari of Tampa. Jaden Nacional (147) tied for seventh.
