Series recap: Other than a doubleheader sweep on Friday, the home series against the Syracuse Mets was a rough one for the Jumbo Shrimp, who dropped four of six games at VyStar Ballpark. Jacksonville, at 17-27 for the second half, is 10 1/2 games out of first place.
Highlight: Jared Serna's three-run home run in the second inning set the tone in the second game of the Aug. 14 doubleheader, starting the Jumbo Shrimp on the way to a 7-2 victory
over Syracuse.
Crustacean sensation: There was plenty of pop at the plate this week from Deyvison De Los Santos, who clubbed three home runs against Syracuse. De Los Santos homered twice on Aug. 12 and once on Aug. 15 with six RBI in all.
On deck: Memphis, the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, is only 20-25 for the second half but has already clinched a playoff berth by winning the International League first half. Catcher Leo Bernal, a top-10 prospect in the Cardinals' system, is batting .285 with 15 home runs and an .851 OPS this year.
Probable pitchers Tuesday: To be determined.
