The Jacksonville Jaguars announced they signed defensive tackle Tommy Akingbesote and waived rookie cornerback Devon Marshall with an injury designation.
Marshall played in the preseason game against the Carolina Panthers
and likely picked up the injury there. He was an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina State and was competing for a practice squad position as a likely roster cut at the end of training camp.Akingbesote is a former seventh-round draft pick, originally selected by the Dallas Cowboys in 2025. He spent time with the Bills and Panthers as a practice squad player, spending a large portion of the 2026 offseason with the Bills.
It'll be hard for him to earn a roster spot or practice squad spot as he's joining the team in the final week of training camp. It'll be even harder as reps will be limited in practice this week with two joint practices on deck with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He'll potentially be given game reps on Aug. 28 as the team closes out the preseason, but those reps may be limited as well as players try to compete for end of roster and practice squad spots.
Defensive tackles Albert Regis and Keivie Rose missed practice on Aug. 23, so Akingbesote could potentially see reps in place of them if they aren't able to play in the game this weekend.
