Brysen Wright, Mandarin seize control of football district. Here's how

Pursued by college football giants from coast to coast, Brysen Wright wasn't even worrying about the recruiting world on Friday night.

His goal: a Mandarin bounce-back to grab contro

"Everybody did their

part," Wright said, "and it got us a big win."

The five-star wide receiver added to his personal highlight reel in a 147-yard night and Mandarin grasped control of Florida High School Athletic Association District 2-5A football, downing Fletcher 31-10 on Sept. 25 at The Corral.

Stung by last week's 31-13 loss to Raines in a long-anticipated Jacksonville showdown, the Mustangs left nowhere to run and nowhere to hide for Fletcher's offense on a dominant night for Times-Union Super 11 senior defensive tackle Kindrid Outland, Christian McGowan and a ferocious Mandarin defensive line.

And at the heart of the action was Wright, whose numbers (seven catches, 147 yards) and overall impact showed once more why he's the No. 1 overall class of 2028 recruit nationwide for the USA TODAY Network in a rare Week 6 homecoming, home-field debut.

"I'm pumped that we won homecoming, and I'm ecstatic that we won our first home game," said head coach Toby Bullock, whose Mustangs played the season's first half on the road.
