Leanna Hunter, the wife of Jacksonville Jaguars star Travis Hunter, caused a bit of a stir by calling out a renown football voice after her husband's big day.
The second-year cornerback and wide receiver made big plays on both side of the ball
during the Jaguars' 34-31 loss to the Houston Texans in London on Oct. 18. Hunter notched his second career touchdown reception while playing offense. And on the ensuing drive, Hunter kept the Texans off the board by intercepting a C.J. Stroud pass in the end zone.Hunter is just the third player in NFL history with a TD catch and an interception in the same game.
In celebration of Hunter's big day, Leanna went to bat for her husband. According to The Big Lead, Leanna posted a story on Instagram that had
a photo, seemingly from Wembley Stadium in London, with the caption: "Anyways ... @shannonsharpe84 When you speak about my husband make sure you put "TWO WAY" player in front."
What Shannon Sharpe said in response to Leanna Hunter
Sharpe, who spent years as a NFL/sports analyst for CBS, Fox Sports and ESPN, has emerged as one of the most popular athlete-turned-podcasters in the social media landscape. His "Night Cap" shows with former NFL star Chad Ochocinco and former NBA star Joe Johnson routinely recap the biggest days in sports.
A few hours after the Leanna missive, Sharpe responded on his show, first claiming he needed Grok, the A.I.-backed Q&A feature on Twitter/X to remember what he said about Travis. In effect, Sharpe said he didn't believe Travis, the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, would be able to effectively play every snap as a wide receiver and cornerback, which was Travis' claim to fame and helped him become the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner. Sharpe also said that if Travis was used in certain packages on both offense and defense, he could flourish.

"We appreciate (Leanna) watching the show, we never said anything bad about your husband, nor would we ever ..." said Sharpe, who also said she had no problem with what Leanna standing up for Travis. "Your husband has Pro Bowl and All-Pro potential at the cornerback position, and if you use him situational, he can be electric on the offensive side of the football. And today, he showed it."
Travis Hunter biggest day in NFL career
Travis Hunter has been used, almost exclusively as a cornerback for the Jaguars this season. But in the last two weeks, he has seen more than just a few snaps on offense. In the two games in London, he has five catches (on five targets) for 68 yards and a touchdown.
That touchdown came in the fourth quarter of the loss to the Texans, snagging a 7-yard strike from Trevor Lawrence.
