U.S. News & World Report recently released its annual "Best Hospitals" rankings, which they say have been helping patients find the best hospital for their health needs for 35 years.

To determine the Best Hospitals, U.S. News says experts analyzed each hospital's performance based on measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and patient experience. Recognizing that most healthcare decisions are made locally, the 2026-2027 edition highlights 505 Best Regional Hospitals across 49 states and Washington, D.C., that have demonstrated superior patient outcomes for a variety of common procedures and conditions.

One Florida hospital among the top 20 in the country. Where is it?

The only Florida hospital in the top 20 "best hospitals" is the Mayo Clinic-Florida, a general medical and surgical hospital in Jacksonville.

"It is nationally ranked in 9 adult specialties and rated high performing in 21 adult procedures and conditions, including Aortic Valve Surgery, Back Surgery (Spinal Fusion), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Colon Cancer Surgery and Diabetes," U.S. News says. "It is a Best Regional Hospital and is ranked 1 in Florida and 1 in Jacksonville."

The report also noted that 94% of patients at Mayo Clinic-Florida are willing to recommend this hospital to others.
