The Jacksonville Jaguars continue to bolster their ailing offensive line, signing Timothy McKay on Aug. 20.
McKay joined the team on Monday, Aug. 17, after being added to the 90-man roster.
McKay, 24, signed with Washington as an undrafted free agent following the 2025 NFL Draft. He spent the 2025 season on the Commanders’ practice squad.
The Raleigh, N.C., native played six seasons at NC State (2019-2024). He appeared in 56 games, making 35 starts at both tackle and guard. McKay was a semifinalist three times for the William V. Campbell Trophy (2022-24), given annually to the nation’s top football scholar-athlete.
In a subsequent move, the Jaguars released defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna.
The Jaguars have had issues with offensive line injuries
throughout camp, but got good news earlier Thursday with the announcement Cole Van Lanen would be returning to the team.
Van Lanen, who was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list on July 26, is being activated after passing his physical Aug. 20.
The Jaguars have been beset by injuries along the offensive line since training camp opened July 29.
In just the last week, offensive tackle Chuma Edoga sustained a lower-body injury on the first play of the preseason game at New Orleans on Aug. 15, the Jaguars announced right guard Patrick Mekari underwent a “recent” surgery on his back, guard Wyatt Milum (undisclosed) was ruled out for this week and tackle Geron Christian, Sr., (undisclosed) hasn't practiced since playing every offensive snap against the Saints.
