Christ's Church eighth-grader Leah Renton is the new Florida Times-Union Girls Athlete of the Week for Northeast Florida high school sports for the 2026-27 season, covering the week
of Aug. 31-Sept. 5 in the Jacksonville area.
She recorded 81 assists for Christ's Church volleyball in victories against Covenant School, Mandarin and Nease.
Thus far, she has 194 assists and 32 digs for an Eagles squad that has begun the year at 6-5.
She placed first in a vote of top Northeast Florida performers that included Lily Chiang (Stanton golf), Eva Delaney (Creekside cross-country), Lillie Eason (Fleming Island volleyball) and Mollie VanDeusen (Beachside volleyball).

This week's Girls Athlete of the Week vote
It's time to vote for Florida Times-Union's Girls High School Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 7-12.
The Times-Union gathers nominees from scores, stats and nominations e-mailed to the sports desk during the week by coaches across Northeast Florida. Coaches can e-mail these stats and scores to preps@jacksonville.com. Deadline to receive nominations is 7 p.m. Saturdays.
This week's voting begins Monday morning and closes at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour. Vote at jacksonville.com/sports.

Camila Giles, Bishop Kenny cross-country
The junior won the Bobcat Classic girls individual title in 18:37, helping the Crusaders to the team championship.
Vi Janikowski, Episcopal volleyball
The eighth-grader supplied 76 assists in the Eagles' wins against Atlantic Coast and Oakleaf.
Lily Keeley, Ponte Vedra volleyball
The junior bashed 39 kills with a .508 hitting percentage as well as 13 digs and five blocks in wins over Providence, Fletcher and Fleming Island.
Allison Kelly, Bolles swimming
The junior won the 100 and 200-yard freestyle finals at the Byron Plapp Invitational.
Grishma Maddukuri, Stanton volleyball
The senior recorded 25 kills in victories over Mandarin and Paxon.
Hazel Peters, Nease golf
The sophomore shot 36 at Julington Creek Golf Club to lead the Panthers to victory in a tri-match against Bartram Trail and Creekside.
