Jacksonville set to open flow of boats back to Met Park Marina

The newly built Metropolitan Park Marinain downtown has everything in place except the boats docked at its slips.

That will change Aug. 12 when the 78-slip marina opens to boaters for the first time since the marina closed in 2023 for a multimillion dollar reconstruction of it.

The opening will mark the latest completed piece of work in the area where Jaguars owner Shad Khan is building a Four Seasons Hotel and Residences

The public marina is next to a section of new riverwalk, a marina support building where boaters can purchase supplies for outings. and an event lawn for outdoor activities.

The marina also is next to the building that will house the Asado Life restaurant that uses the Argentine tradition of open-flame cooking for preparing meals.

Asado Life is adding the Jacksonville restaurant to one it already operates in St. Augustine.

One Tower Court, the six-story office building that opened earlier this year, overlooks the marina. The office building is part of the development by Khan.

The city owns Met Park Marina and it is managed by F3 Marina.

A development agreement approved in 2021 authorizes up to $13.4 million in funding by the city for the marina, marina support building and event lawn.

The portion of the riverwalk by Met Park Marina eventually will connect to a longer piece of new Northbank Riverwalk in the area where the city will build a new Shipyards West Park, which would make it possible to use the riverwalk from the Fuller Warren Bridge all the way to the Four Seasons Hotel and Met Park.
