Trinity Christian senior Nova Hewlett is the new Florida Times-Union Girls Athlete of the Week for Northeast Florida high school sports for the 2026-27 season, covering the week of Aug. 24-29 in the Jacksonville area.
The outside hitter recorded a season-high 35 kills in a five-set victory for Trinity Christian volleyball against Fletcher, in addition to 17 digs.
A first-team All-First Coast honoree in 2025, she has committed to play college volleyball at the University of West Florida. She achieved her 1,000th career varsity kill last week.
She placed first in a vote of top Northeast Florida performers that included Kaia Carpenedo (Atlantic Coast volleyball), Honor Donaldson (Providence golf), Kaleigh Marquart (Keystone Heights
volleyball) and Rileigh Revere (Fernandina Beach swimming).

It's time to vote for Florida Times-Union's boys High School Athlete of the Week for the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 5.
The Times-Union gathers nominees from scores, stats and nominations e-mailed to the sports desk during the week by coaches across Northeast Florida. Coaches can e-mail these stats and scores to preps@jacksonville.com. Deadline to receive nominations is 7 p.m. Saturdays.
Because of the Labor Day holiday, this week's voting begins Tuesday morning and closes at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour. Vote at jacksonville.com/sports.

Lily Chiang, Stanton golf
The junior shot a 31 at Deercreek for medalist honors as the Blue Devils defeated Bishop Kenny.
Eva Delaney, Creekside cross-country
The sophomore ran an area-best 18:44.8 at the Florida Horse Park Invitational, placing sixth and leading the Knights to second place.
Lillie Eason, Fleming Island volleyball
The junior had 41 kills and 20 digs in the Golden Eagles' wins over Oakleaf and Fletcher.
Leah Renton, Christ's Church volleyball
The eighth-grader supplied 81 assists as the Eagles swept Covenant, Mandarin and Nease.
Mollie VanDeusen, Beachside volleyball
The senior had a triple-double (12 kills, 10 digs, 19 assists) in the Barracudas' sweep of Middleburg.
