The first full month of the high school sports season is officially complete on the First Coast.
Northeast Florida fans have already had the chance to cheer highlights from all across the area, and they're just getting started.
Some of these highlights are now right here in the Florida Times-Union's new Play of the Month series
, highlighting top plays from all across Jacksonville and Northeast Florida.Voters selected Paxon football's highlight, a touchdown pass from Javier Dixon to a leaping Deundre Byrd, as the Times-Union's inaugural Play of the Month for August 2026.
Throughout 2026-27, the Times-Union's cameras will be rolling to spotlight the moments from a variety of in-season high school sports action. Readers can also submit clips to the Times-Union's for

Now, it's the fans' turn to decide which highlight is on top. Cast your vote to help crown the next Times-Union Play of the Month winner of the 2026-27 high school season. This poll will remain open until 11 a.m. Oct. 8.

The sophomore finished off one of the wildest points of the season against Ponte Vedra.

The junior defied gravity with a touchdown catch against Raines while being shoved across the sideline.
Bethany Stephens, Wolfson volleyball
The sophomore smacked a thunderous spike in a victory over Bolles.
