Three Jaguars position battles to watch
Running back: Veterans DeeJay Dallas of Brunswick and Ameer Abdullah and rookie J’Mari Taylor are fighting it out for the fourth spot and possibly a fifth spot in the room.
Dallas and Abdullah have a combined 19 years of NFL experience but Taylor has been flashing in camp. Pass protection will likely play a big part of the final decision.
Wide receiver: The fifth and possibly a sixth spot is up for grabs. Will the Jaguars keep veterans Austin Trammell and Tim Jones? Or go with youth in rookies Josh Cameron and C.J. Williams? Special teams value with Trammell and Jones will play a part, but Cameron bears watching on punt returns.
Safety: Who backs up Antonio Johnson? Caleb Ransaw and Rayuan Lane III are playing well in camp. Rookie Jalen Huskey has flashed.
What’s next for the Jaguars?
The Jaguars will resume practice at the Miller Center on Monday. The next practice open for fans (tickets have been distributed) is Aug. 19 against the Carolina Panthers, with the first of two home preseason games on Aug. 21 at 7:30 p.m. (CBS).
