After opening 10 locations across Jacksonville and Northeast Florida over the last seven years, Culver’s is planning its first restaurant near the city’s core.
The Wisconsin-based chain known for its Midwestern comfort food is exploring adding a new restaurant at 5110 University Blvd. W., according to a service availability application filed with JEA this week.
That’s the site of the former Inserection Couples Emporium, near Pet Paradise, in the city’s Bowden area. The restaurant would be the first Culver’s substantially inside the I-295 beltway that connects Jacksonville’s suburban neighborhoods.
In the application, Culver’s says it intends to redevelop “the parcel from an existing retail building to a quick service restaurant with associated
parking areas, utilities, and stormwater facilities.”
Culver's offers Butterburgers made to order from fresh, never-frozen beef, fresh frozen custard and fried cheese curds made with Wisconsin cheddar cheese. You'll also find a variety of fried chicken and seafood options as well as beef pot roast, soups and salads on the menu.
Since launching in Sauk City, Wisconsin, in 1984, Culver's has become one of the fastest-growing chains in recent years.
Culver’s made its Northeast Florida debut in July 2019, opening a restaurant at 1767 Blanding Blvd. in Middleburg. Since then, Culver’s has added locations at 45 Fountains Way in St. Johns (January 2021); 3433 U.S. 1 S. in St. Augustine (January 2021); 7923 Parramore Road (January 2021); 7818 Gate Parkway (September 2021); 101 Monument Road (March 2022); 463731 SR 200 in Yulee (March 2022); 4768 Hodges Blvd. (March 2024); 2620 Stratton Blvd. in St. Augustine (May 2024); and 14011 Hyatt Road (October 2025).
In addition to the University Boulevard location, Culver’s is also planning a new restaurant in Green Cove Springs, at 521 Orange Ave., near Burger King.
