Jacksonville City Council member Tyrona Clark-Murray is facing a 10-day suspension from her job as a Duval County Public Schools teacher as fallout from a misconduct investigation.
Cark-Murray, 57, was removed from contact with students in May and the suspension would apparently resolve the case against her.
The Duval County School Board is scheduled to vote October 6 on her suspension from her job at Alfred I duPont Middle School
.Clark-Murray and school district officials have withheld comment while discipline against her was pending, but in May, Action News Jax quoted unnamed sources saying she had self-reported kicking 13-year-old student enrolled in a program for kids with autism or emotional disabilities.
That report said Clark-Murray told
school district police the student kicked her first and she kicked back to stop him. Duval County court records don’t reflect any criminal charges.
Clark-Murray’s council webpage says she has been educating Duval County students since 1993. She has been a council member since 2022.
